This represents a combined 43,584 acres of land for sale in West Virginia. The most expensive land listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $4 million, although the median price for land and rural real estate for sale in West Virginia was $194,481. The average price of land and rural real estate for sale in West Virginia was $266,852. There was 498 acres of sold land in West Virginia recorded in May 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from April 2018. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $1.6 million. With the Mid-Atlantic's most rugged, untouched mountain terrain, West Virginia is an outdoor sportsman's paradise, where adventures include rock climbing, fishing, whitewater rafting, backpacking and mountain biking and several excellent off-roading trails. West Virginia ranks among the country's smallest states in terms of size, covering an area of 24,231 square miles (16 million acres). Of this area, 24,038 square miles (99 percent) is land, while the remaining 192 square miles comprises water.
