Recent data from Lands of America shows appromixately $1 billion in land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in the Mountain State. This represents almost 123,000 acres of land for sale in the state. Of the 55 counties in West Virginia, Hampshire County had the most land and rural real estate for sale. There were 1,315 acres of sold land in West Virginia recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a 43 percent change in sales activity over the previous month, with a combined land value of $2 million for all property and land sold in the state. The most land sales in the state last month were recorded in Hampshire County. With the Mid-Atlantic's most rugged, untouched mountain terrain, West Virginia is an outdoor sportsman's paradise, where adventures include rock climbing, fishing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, mountain biking, and several excellent off-roading trails. West Virginia is one of the country's smallest states in terms of size, covering an area of 24,231 square miles (16 million acres). Of this area, 24,038 square miles is land, while the remaining 192 square miles is covered by water. Wildlife to be found on land for sale in West Virginia include whitetail deer, turkey, bear, grouse, and quail. Anglers can enjoy casting for bass, trout, and catfish.
